Turn the egg shape valve handle clockwise to shut off the water to the faucet.
Not terribly hard but its nice to see before you try it for the 1st time yourself.
These tub faucets often have a diverter that can be pulled up to block the water in the spout and force it up into the shower head which connects to the faucet via a separate pipe behind the wall.
Find the water supply cut off valves under the sink.
Next remove the old faucet.
Look at the water supply hoses from the cut off valves to the faucet.
The valves are on each house water line coming from the wall or bottom of the cabinet.
You will now need to clean behind the old faucet.
The plastic mounting nuts can sometimes be unscrewed by hand but metal mounting nuts will require the use of a wrench or slip joint pliers.
