The cartridge is behind the handle but the fasteners holding the handle are seldom in plain view. Video covers removal of the old faulty cartridge and replacing it with a new moen 1225b cartridge.
Remove the screws holding the escutcheon and slide out the escutcheon.

No matter what model of faucet you have its essential to turn off the water supply before you disassemble it or you could be scalded.
Put the small clip back in to hold the new cartridge in place.
The cartridge may also need to be replaced if water sprays out of the handle.

Put some grease on the replacement cartridge and carefully work it back into the valve.
Spray your new cartridge with the spray lubricant and install the cartridge in the same manner you removed the old or defective cartridge.
Grip the end of the new valve cartridge which should be identical to the old cartridge with pliers and slide it back into its slot in the wall.

Wiggle the cartridge back and forth if at any point it gets stuck and wont slide any further.
Add a bead of silicone and a foam bead around the back of the escutcheon plate to make a watertight seal.
